Dewey Wayne Isaacs was born in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, on June 23rd, 1947, to Joan Adair Wade and Dewey Jack Isaacs. About a year later the family moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where Dewey was raised. He graduated from Arcadia High School in 1965 and then attended Arizona State University, graduating in 1969.
One of Dewey's favorite things to do was watch Arizona State Football. Dewey joined the United States Navy immediately after college, serving on the island of Cyprus before relocating to San Francisco, CA. It was in San Francisco that he met the love of his life, Mary Kathryn Brown. To this union were born two daughters, Nancy Marie Denault and Wendy Jo Isaacs. They also had two honorary daughters, Mina Isaacs Lee and Shawna Points. All of his daughters agree that Mary and Dewey were the best parents in the world.
The family lived in Rowland Heights, California, from 1974 to 1992, leaving California when the girls were in their early teens. Dewey was excited to move his family “back home” to Oklahoma, where he was born and spent countless vacations. The girls adapted quickly to life in Oklahoma, enjoying the numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents who lived there. Dewey was christened in 1948 at the Methodist Church in Stilwell, Oklahoma. A lifelong Methodist, in 2018 he decided to attend Community Church in Gooseneck Bend, Muskogee, Oklahoma, because it was close to his home in the country. This is the church he would eventually call home.
He loved his family, his extended family, his furry children (dogs), his church family, and numerous friends. Dewey was a lifelong collector of movie soundtracks and later the films. Most of us remember either a song or a film he shared with us. He also loved black coffee and the news station on TV. Let us all raise a cup of coffee to him as we enjoy a couple of his favorite movie soundtrack songs. Loved forever, missed, and honored by us all.
