James David Stephenson of Stilwell, Oklahoma passed away Friday, August 21, 2026 at his home in Stilwell.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2026 at the Roberts & Hart Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Honey Hill Cemetery in Bell, Oklahoma.

James was born January 2, 1953 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Earl & Rubie (Lewis) Stephenson. He grew up in Fayetteville and attended schools there.

James worked and retired from both Campbell Soup and the Fayetteville School System as a janitor. He loved fishing, hunting, playing sports, his guitar, singing and going to casinos.

Survivors include sons James Stephenson Jr., Michael Stephenson and Sheldon Stephenson; one daughter Stephanie Stephenson, grandson Dylan Pettigrew, brother Harold and wife Hazel Stephenson, half brother Marvin Stephenson, Carl Stephenson, Leon Stephenson, Jo Don Stephenson, Earl Dean and Robert Hays, half sister Kay Ross, Donna Starr and Carol Henriquez. Ex- wife Rose Mary Crittendon.

The family wanted to give a special thank you to caregivers Tonya and Wanda.

James was preceded in death by Wanda Starr Stephenson, Betty Rich, Atha Unger Stephenson, Debbie Lincecum and sister Wanda Pritchard
