Jimmie Collins, a cherished father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, in Stilwell, Oklahoma. Born on January 14, 1940, in Oktaha, Oklahoma, Jimmie was a simple man whose heart was as vast as the Oklahoma skies he called home.
Jimmie’s life was marked by a dedication to service and family. He proudly served his country for six years in the Navy, achieving the rank of E-5 and earning the Good Conduct Medal. Following his military service, he poured his work ethic into his career as a printing press operator, a role in which he was respected for his diligence and reliability.
Beyond his career, Jimmie’s true passion was his family. He was profoundly devoted to his grandchildren, his pride, joy, and their hero. To them, he was not just a grandfather but their unwavering champion and the glue that held the family together through all of life’s moments. His home was a sanctuary, welcoming all who crossed its threshold with open arms and a kind heart. Jimmie was a safe haven for many. He was known for his willingness to give the shirt off his back to help others. He was always generous and caring.
In his leisure, Jimmie found joy in the thrilling world of NASCAR, the quiet patience of hunting and fishing, and the simple pleasure of watching his grandbabies play sports and take part in their activities. He also found comfort in the familiar television heroics of Walker, Texas Ranger, a reflection of the values he lived by strength, loyalty, and justice.
Jimmie’s legacy is carried on by his loving family: his three daughters, Debbie Mackey of Stilwell, Oklahoma; Wanda Manuel and her husband, Gene, of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; and Kelly McKinney and her husband, Greg; along with his two sons, Tommy Collins of Stilwell, Oklahoma, and Darrell Johnson and his wife, Trina. He was a grandfather to eleven adored grandchildren: Brandon Hawk and wife Chasity, Christopher Hawk, Kiara Lopez and husband Eddy, Tylah Moton and her fiancé Armando, Derrick Hawk and wife Karlee, Thomas K. Collins, Ryleigh Bush and husband Garrett, Serenity Manuel, Jay Manuel, Javier Alvarez and wife Christina, and Carlos Rivas with his fiancé Darian. Jimmie’s family is further enriched by nineteen great-grandchildren and thirteen nieces and nephews. He was also blessed with the companionship of six special friends: Charlie Neale, Shannon Eubanks, Jake Wilson, Curtis Jordan, Cheryl, and Rich from ACG Hospice, who stood by him with compassion and support.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his beloved parents, William Oadis Collins and Alta “Scism” Collins, and his siblings Archie Collins, Mary Doyle, Charlie Collins, George Collins, William Lee Collins, Deewitt Collins, and Donald Collins. Their memories live on in the love and stories shared by those who knew him.
Services to honor Jimmie’s remarkable life will begin with a visitation on April 9, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Roberts & Hart Funeral Home, located at 801 W Locust St., Stilwell, Oklahoma. A funeral service will follow on April 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the same location.
Jimmie Collins was more than a man; he was a pillar of kindness, strength, and unwavering love. Those fortunate enough to have known him can attest to a life well-lived, a heart well-shared, and a legacy that will forever remain in the warmth of family ties and cherished memories. As we say farewell, we remember Jimmie as the hero to his grandchildren, the steadfast glue of his family, and a gentle soul whose generosity and spirit touched us all. May he rest in peace, forever surrounded by the love he so freely gave.
