Joe Clyde “Smokey” Eddings
Joe was born in Stilwell, Oklahoma, and passed away on October 16, 2025, at his home in Stilwell.
Joe Clyde Eddings, lovingly known as “Smokey,” passed away on October 16, 2025, at his home in Stilwell, Oklahoma. He was born in Stilwell to Joe and Juanita Eddings.
Smokey married Gwendolyn Jones, and the two shared over thirty years together. Though they later separated due to lifestyle and health matters, they remained an important part of each other’s lives until his passing.
Smokey loved to travel and sightsee—he truly lived life on his own terms. Known for his unfiltered honesty, he always spoke his mind. He was a character through and through—but aren’t we all? Smokey enjoyed roaming the streets, meeting people, and spending time with friends. He often attended Church on the Rock and services at the Sale Barn, thanks to the kind invitations of Elton and Valorie, for which his family is forever grateful.
Joe was a dedicated truck driver who spent many years traveling across the United States. Along the way, he built lasting friendships and collected countless stories from the open road. A gifted mechanic, Joe could rebuild a motor in just two days — a testament to his skill and determination. He was truly a man of many talents, known for his hard work, ingenuity, and generous spirit.
He is survived by his ex-wife, Gwendolyn; his son, Corky; daughters Jerushah (husband Stanley) and Angie; and his beloved granddaughter Zaylee Esther, whom he affectionately called Alfalfa and Little Gal. She was his pride and joy, and he never failed to bring her gifts.
He is preceded in death by Jimmy Carl Eddings and John Clark Eddings.
Smokey was a man who always had time for others. Even when he struggled to help himself, he was quick to help anyone in need. If he had it, he’d give it—no questions asked. He was ordinary and extraordinary all at once.
He is no longer roaming but resting now, peacefully, for eternity.
