Sherry Jean Simpson, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, at the age of 79.
Sherry was known for her kind heart, loving spirit, and unwavering devotion to her family. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with those she loved, especially her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her kindness and gentle nature touched the lives of all who knew her.
Sherry was born on November 2, 1946, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was a graduate of Stilwell High School and later attended the University of Arkansas. Throughout her career, she worked as a secretary and later as an executive assistant to the medical director at a large hospital in Tulsa, where she was respected for her professionalism, dedication, and attention to detail.
Sherry was a remarkably creative person who found happiness in making beautiful things with her hands. She especially enjoyed crafting decorative wreaths. What began as a hobby became a passion, and she sold many of her beautiful creations over the years. Family and friends often looked forward to seeing the latest wreath adorning her door, as she seemed to have one for every season, holiday, and special occasion. She delighted in creating custom wreaths for others, carefully crafting each one with her signature attention to detail and artistic touch. In her quieter moments, Sherry also loved watching Hallmark movies, finding comfort in their heartfelt stories and happy endings. Most of all, she treasured time spent with family, whether celebrating special occasions or simply enjoying each other's company.
Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, O.E. “Jack” Ahart and Golda Ahart, and her brother Jerry Ahart. She is survived by her daughters, Angela Raleigh of Alto, New Mexico, and Andrea Medley and husband Mike Medley of Catoosa, Oklahoma; four grandchildren: Cara Arneecher and husband Wesley Arneecher, Matthew Medley, Melissa Medley, Adam Raleigh and wife Grace Raleigh; and two great-grandchildren: Emmalyn Arneecher and Mason Raleigh.
Above all, Sherry was a woman of Christian faith who trusted in Jesus Christ as her Savior. Her faith provided strength, comfort, and hope throughout her life. While her family grieves her loss, they take comfort in the promise of eternal life and rejoice in the assurance that she is now at peace in the presence of her Lord. They look forward with hope to the day they will be reunited with her again.
